President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered heightened security in Abuja following the deadly bomb blast which killed scores of innocent citizens in the Nyanya area of the Federal Capital City.
This was made public by Reuben Abati, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity who added that the president is saddened by the loss.
He said, “President Jonathan is saddened by the loss of lives in Nyanya bombing. He has ordered heightened secirity in Abuja following the bombing.”
The President also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families directing “medical services to do their very best to save the lives of those injured in the bombing.”
Scores of people died earlier today in an explosion which was believed to have been orchestrated by suspected members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect. Different unofficial accounts have put the number of fatalities at between 50 and 200 victims with initial reports from the BBC putting the number at 40.
Many have called on the Federal Government to do more in securing the lives and property of citizens lamenting the ease and frequency of deadly terrorist attacks.
