When the Apple Watch first launched a year ago, Apple made a big point of presenting the device as a fashion accessory.
On Monday, the company doubled down on that initiative by releasing a series of new bands that offer more options for the style conscious.
The company also announced a new series of sport and leather band colors, as well as a Space Black Milanese Loop band. No new prices were announced for the bands, but that apparently isn’t a problem, as Apple CEO Tim Cook told the audience in Cupertino, California, that Apple’s research indicates that a full third of wearers regularly change their Apple Watch bands.
Of course, a number of third-party accessory makers already offer almost any band style an Apple Watch owner could want. However, those who have dived into the third-party Apple Watch band waters are aware that quality isn’t always the best, depending on what company you snag your band from.
Because of that, some Apple Watch owners opt to pay the relatively hefty sum (compared to third-party band prices) to stock up on band options offered directly from Apple.
Now that Apple has a new slew of style choices, Apple is likely to make another big fashion push, which might give the company yet another opportunity to capture the imagination of the fashion world.
