Boy stabs 17-year-old friend to death for raping his sister

by ‘Jola Sotubo

A friendship in Lagos has ended in the death of one party at the hands of the other after a teenager killed his friend for allegedly raping his sister.

Isaac Usim, whose age wasn’t specified is said to have taken the life of one Kehinde by stabbing him in the neck with a screwdriver after the latter raped his sister.

The incident occurred in the Apapa area of the state and Isaac is currently said to be on the run.

Vanguard reports:

Isaac was said to have engaged the 17-year‑old Kehinde, a vulcanizer who was said to have left Ibadan for Lagos in search of greener pasture, in a fight.

In the process, Isaac allegedly stabbed Kehinde with a screw driver in the neck.

Eyewitnesses said Kehinde was first rushed to Saint James Hospital, from where he was referred to Falati Hospital. He was said to have breathed his last before he could reach the hospital, apparently due to loss of blood.

When news of Kehinde’s death filtered in, hoodlums were said to have invaded the alleged killer’s residence at 44, Prince Fadina Street, where they descended on members of his family. But for the intervention of some concerned residents, the suspect’s younger brother would have been lynched.

Other occupants of the building were said to have fled for fear of being caught up in the attack. As at last night, the residents were yet to return.

However, his father and younger brother were reportedly arrested by the police.

Contacted, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Ngozi Braide, condemned the killing of the alleged rapist, describing the act as barbaric. Braide said Usim had no right to kill someone, no matter the circumstances.
