The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti state has challenged the federal government and the Economic Fnancial Crimes Commission.
Premium Times reports that the Ekiti PDP is asking questions over the release of an associate of President Muhammadu Buhari, Jaffaru Isa, who was earlier arrested for his involvement in the $2.1 billion arms deal.
The party said the release of the former military administrator of Kaduna state, by the EFCC after allegedly returning N100 million out of the money collected from the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, was “shady”.

The PDP, in a statement by the state publicity secretary, Jackson Adebayo, today, Wednesday, January 13, said the whole drama was just a “concocted” plot to convince Nigerians that the anti-graft outfit is working and that it is not witch-hunting only members of the opposition party.
“The whole thing was like a drama from Nollywood where you can see the end of a film from the beginning. The arrest, purported refund of N100 million by Isa and his eventual release was a charade taken too far.

“The EFCC and the Federal Government should explain to the world what was the money collected by Isa meant for as was done to other cases since the beginning of the indiscriminate arrest and perpetual detention of the PDP members in the same category,” the statement said.
The party also challenged the EFCC to declare public the balance of what was received after Mr. Isa’s refund and why he was not charged to court.
Meanwhile, the EFCC is currently on the trail of two PDP bigwigs whom may flee the country for alleged involvement in the ongoing $2.1 billion arms probe.
