– Buhari to sack CBN governor Godwin Emefiele any moment from now
– Emefiele been in the eye of the storm following revelations that the nation’s treasury was practically emptied to fund the failed re-election bid of Jonathan in 2015
– The chief of the nation’s apex bank continues to face the heat following Naira devaluation
There are strong indications that President Muhammadu Buhari may sack the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele any moment from now.
This comes on the heels of current fall of the naira and recent revelations that the nation’s treasury was practically emptied to fund the failed re-election bid of Jonathan in 2015, Ripples.com.ng reports.
The CBN chief has been in the eye of the storm as investigators alleged he granted government officials unregulated access to the treasury during the electioneering period and even printed new currencies when the vault was drained.

Naij.com gathers that President Muhammadu Buhari may likely give into pressure from top government officials who are demanding Emefiele’s sack.
Some months back, it was gathered that a faction within the presidency led by the president’s nephew, Mamman Daura, and the chief of staff, Abba Kyari, planned to sack Emefiele.
President Muhammadu Buhari’s men also reportedly plan to substitute him with a northerner Alhaji Mohd Hayatudeen. The faction in the Buhari administration are reported to be unhappy with Emefiele as the CBN governor. The main reason for the distrust seems to be Emefiele’s origin from Delta state as well as the fact that he is not a Muslim.
Emefiele was appointed as head of the nation’s apex bank by former President Goodluck Jonathan on June 3, 2014.
He replaced Mallam Lamido Sanusi, the Emir of Kano, who was controversially suspended and fired by Jonathan for alleged insubordination.
