Low sperm count, among other reasons account for infertility in men. There are a number of reasons that cause this reduction in the sperm count. Read on to learn more about habits that reduce sperm count.

Wearing tight briefs

The temperature of the testes must ideally be lower than the body’s core temperature. This will ensure that the testes produce sufficient quality and quantity of sperm. Wearing tight briefs will increase the heat, thereby affecting sperm count.

Hot saunas 

A study claimed that hot saunas also affect the testicular temperature and cause a decrease in the sperm count of a man. This won’t really make a difference if you visit the sauna occasionally. But men who visit the sauna more frequently, should be warned.

Not having sex

Having sex can actually benefit the sperm count. That means abstaining from sex can severely affect your sperm count. Researchers have claimed that abstinence can cause the sperm to change shape, indicating that the sperm is going stale.

Stress 

Stress does not only affect you mentally, but it can also take a toll on your physical well-being. Whether its work related stress or sexual anxiety, stress can end up affecting your sperm count.

Alcohol

Alcohol can severely affect one’s testosterone levels, which in turn causes a reduction in the sperm count of a man.

Consuming a lot of soy products
Even though soy products are known as a dieter’s delight, they can have an adverse effect on one’s sexual health, becuase soy products contain isoflavones, which can affect one’s sperm count, production and quality of sperm.
