According to our research, we found out that whenever this ginger carbonated drink is combined with citrus in a drink, it is known as a buck. Hence the combo of ginger ale and gin is called a gin buck.
This particular mix was popular in the 1920s and reigned from then into the 30s and 40s. Perhaps this was because of the citrus spicy taste of the drink. This classic cocktail so happens to be one of the simplest summer themed drinks to make.
