EPL Round Up: Ighalo scores, Manchester United lose at home

Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo, has rediscovered his goal scoring form as he netted the first in Watford’s 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Saturday in one of the English Premier League games played across England.

Ighalo’s goal, adjudged the third quickest second half goal scored in the premier League so far this season, is coincidentally the first in 2016 for the Nigerian striker.

After his side failed to make any headway in the first half, Ighalo scored within 50 seconds in the second-half before going on to set up his teammate for Watford’s other goal.

Though Newcastle United pulled one back, it was not enough to deny Ighalo and his teammates the much craved about victory. Watford had lost their four consecutive games before Saturday’s outing.

Elsewhere, Dele Alli, who is of Nigerian descent, but has pledged his future to his country of birth, England, scored a wonderful goal touted to be a contender for the goal of the season as his team Tottenham Hotspur came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 1-3.

It was booing galore at Old Trafford after Manchester United crashed to another home defeat, this time at the hands of Southampton.

New arrival, Charlie Austin, was the hero for the Saints with his late strike that has further condemned Dutch tactician Louis Van Gaal to more pressure.

There was a goals feast in the Norwich versus Liverpool game in the which the Reds edged that tie 4-5.

Leicester City showed class again as they whipped Stoke City 3-0 to return to the summit of the EPL table.

To reclaim top spot, Arsenal now have the difficult task of replicating the performance posted by the Foxes in Sunday’s London Derby against Chelsea.

Saturday’s result

Norwich City 4 – 5 Liverpool

Crystal Palace 1 – 3 Tottenham Hotspur

Leicester City 3 – 0 Stoke City

Manchester United 0 – 1 Southampton

Sunderland 1 – 1 AFC Bournemouth

Watford 2 – 1 Newcastle United

West Bromwich Albion 0 – 0 Aston Vill
