EPL Round Up: Victor Moses, Ighalo scores in away win

The Nigerian duo of Victor Moses and Odion Ighalo were at their best on Saturday scoring and helping their respective teams to crucial away victories in the English Premier League.

Moses became the first player to score against hitherto invincible Manchester City as he shocked the fans at the Etihad stadium with his 6th minute thunderous strike from 25 yards.

Diafra Sakho then doubled West Ham’s lead against the most expensive starting XI the Premier League has ever seen over the course of 90 minutes.

Though City pulled one back, it could not deny West Ham another big away win as they have previously enjoyed victories over Arsenal at the Emirates and Liverpool at Anfield.

At St. James Park, Ighalo was the main man scoring the two goals for newlypromoted Watford City in their 1-2 victory over Newcastle United.

It is the third goal in two games for Ighalo who has just been recalled to the Nigeria national team for the upcoming friendly games against Cameroon and Congo next month in Belgium.

Elsewhere, Chelsea had a good day amid all the controversy as they emerged victors over Arsenal by a 2-0 scoreline, though the Gunners finished the game with 9 men.

Other fixtures on the day saw Swansea and Everton play out a goalless draw, while Aston Villa were not able to prevent West Brom from scoring as they lost 0-1 at Villa Park courtesy of a goal from Saido Berahino who returned to action in style for the Baggies.

Another draw on Saturday was the one between Stoke and Leicester City.

The Potters went 2 goals up early but Claudio Ranieri’s team have had a never say die attitude this season and that showed in their return to come back and finish 2-2 in a tough away fixture.

Another side who just came up from the championship had a good weekend as Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth continue to turn heads with their 2-0 win over Sunderland.

Chelsea 2 – 0 Arsenal

Aston Villa 0 – 1 West Bromwich Albion
Newcastle United 1 – 2 Watford
Stoke City 2 – 2 Leicester City
Swansea City 0 – 0 Everton
