Ex-Governor Sule Lamido’s son suspended as District Head

The Dutse Emirate Council in Jigawa State, North-west Nigeria, has suspended Mustapha Lamido from his position as Santurakin Dutse and District head of Bamaina.

Mr. Mustapha is the son of embattled former governor of the state, Sule Lamido.

The trio of Mustapha, his brother, Aminu and their father are facing trial for alleged theft of billions of naira belonging to the Jigawa State Government.

But in a letter referenced ECD/69/VOL III/1060, dated 31st January, 2016 and signed by the Secretary of Dutse Emirate Council, Yunusa Garba, indicated that the suspension of the monarch is with immediate effect.

“Greetings and best wishes,” the letter reads.

“Following a letter of command which His Highness received from the office of the secretary to the state government, with reference No. SSG/AF/S/A/14/VOLL.III/82, of 19th Rabi’ul Akhir, 1437 AH equivalent to 29th January 2016, you are hereby suspended from the position with immediate effect.”

The action, Mr. Garba said, is based on Section 04301 and 04412 of the Civil Service Rules given the ongoing case involving Mr. Mustapha and his father at a federal court in Abuja.

The young monarch was said to have been imposed as district head of Bamaina when his father served as governor of the state.
