Gov. Dickson signs Bayelsa’s Widows Protection Bill

The Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, on Tuesday said his predecessor, Jonah Jang, left a debt of N104 billion for the state.

The governor, who said this while speaking to judiciary workers led by the chief Judge of the state, Justice Pius Damulak, said the state’s treasury empty.

“Governor Jonah Jang left a total debt of 104 billion Naira” and owed civil servants and pensioners for seven months,” Mr. Lalong said.

“I want the judiciary to note that the past Administration left N104 billion as documented in the handing over note to me. There is also no kobo left in the treasury of the state and we will have to battle again with the seven months unpaid salaries of workers including pensioners in the state”.

The Plateau State Chief Judge, Mr. Damulak, decried the under- funding of the state’s judiciary during the past administration and called on the governor to take the judicial system of government as a key sector which should not be ignored.

Governor Lalong has held several of such meetings with other workers in the state including Permanent Secretaries, Local Government chairpersons and heads of tertiary institutions who are on strike to find a way out for tertiary education to be revived.
