I am loyal to Wamakko but PDP will rule Sokoto – Deputy Governor says

He called on the people not to only come together as one but also to refrain from derogatory campaigns.

Mr. Wamakko and four other governors had decamped from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in November 2013. Unlike his boss, however, Mr. Shagari remained in the PDP.

Mr. Shagari, who is also the leader of the party in the state, said the PDP was the party that had remained one through the years.

“I will continue to be loyal to Wamakko as a governor until the expiry of our tenure. But in 2015, the PDP will produce the next governor,” he said.

He said this at a stakeholders meeting held in Sokoto on Saturday.

“The PDP has remained one indivisible party all these years. Even at the moment, we are one. But you can see that the other party (All Progressives Congress, APC) has two offices. The PDP is the only party for Nigerians, which will ensure justice and development,” Mr. Shagari said.

Mr. Shagari expressed his loyalty to the Sokoto governor.

Emphasising his loyalty to the state governor, Aliyu Wamakko, Mr. Shagari assured that the PDP would produce the next governor in Sokoto State.

“Let us engage in meaningful campaigns that will see to the development of Sokoto state,” he said.

Those at the stakeholders meeting included former Minister of Steel, Ahmed Muhammed; former ambassador, Abdallah Wali; Ila Gada; Ladan Shuni, among others. The former Minister of Transport, Yusuf Suleiman, and Abubakar Gada sent in their apologies for being absent at the event.

The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Mukhtari Shagari, has said despite its challenges, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, remains the best party to rule Nigeria.
