The 12-yr-old who is seen wearing make-up, poses for photographs in a wedding dress as she married a middle-aged man.
The video clip which had reportedly been shot in Lebanon has sparked international outrage.
Fortunately, the child bride and her middle-aged groom are really actors who had been hired by campaign group, KAFA reported to mean “enough” in Arabic.
The video has now garnered 1.7 million views since its release, as the amazing clip shows another world where thousands of young girls in Lebanon, Syria and around other parts of the world are being forced into marriage.
As many as 15 million girls as young as eight are being forced into marriage with older men usually in their sixties and senventies.
The United Nations Population Fund reveals that more than 1.2 billion girls would have been forced into child marriage by 2050.
The Lebanon Government has introduced a legislation which they hope to pass that would require all marriages to have a civil registration in their attempt to outlaw it.
As of today, parents can give permission for the marriage of their children at the age of 9 while a 14-yr-old girl can give consent at the age of 14.
A Campaigner, Maya Ammar revealed: “The scene was supposed to seem shocking because the practice itself is shocking.”
