King Odiologbo of Olomoro Kingdom, Delta state, HRM Josiah Umukoro Agbaza II, who was kidnapped last week in his pool office by yet to be identified gunmen, has regained freedom.
The abductors had demanded a ransom of N50 million for monarch’s release but it could not be confirmed if a ransom was paid before he regained his freedom.
The traditional ruler, who was kidnapped at about 7:30 a.m. and taken to an unknown destination, was freed Monday night by his captors.
Residents of the community told our correspondent that his return threw the entire Kingdom into wild jubilation.
It was learnt that it took the efforts of the Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Ithiako Constantine Ikpokpo and other well-meaning individuals within and outside the local government Council to secure the king’s freedom.
The monarch was kidnapped in his pool office a few kilometres away from his palace.
The Isoko monarch is the second kidnapped monarch kidnapped recently in Delta State.
The Ubulu Uku monarch also in Delta was kidnapped last month but was found dead later.
