Suberu is a crafty, witty old butler who becomes the orbit of the love affairs between Segun and Adora and Wole and Simibiatu simultaneously. Coming a few steps off Cupid, Suberu is not only a joiner of hearts but also a registrar of marriages, who makes wedding dreams come true, despite overwhelming hindrances.

A tale of love, parental control and hidden agendas, That Scoundrel Suberu by the Spruce Company, the troupe behind the Live Theatre on Sunday features Opeyemi Dada, Emeka Nwachukwu, Adebola Ogunshina, Foladele Falana, Morolayo Faleye, Oluwole Muyiwa, Simi Hassan, OAP on 95.1 Lagos Traffic Radio FM, Emmanuel Nwaodu, Jumoke Adeniyi, Utaka Timba whilst Sunkanmi Adebayo is the Artistic Director and Adenugba Oluwanishola produced.

That Scoundrel Suberu is an adaptation of Moliere’s That Scoundrel Scapin. The play was put up by the Dramatic Society at the Arts Theatre, University of Ibadan in 1966.

The show happens on the last Sunday in March, Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Unity Centre, 28B, Isaac John Street, Ikeja GRA, Ikeja Lagos opposite Jevinik Restaurant by 4pm and 5.30pm.

Started in 2008, Live Theatre on Sunday is inspired by the resurgence in the appreciation of the theatre arts. The objective of the project is present spectacular stage play performances on topical issues thus contribute significantly to the revival of this art form in our society. The series has featured notable talents in the Nigerian entertainment industry such as Yinka Davies, Gabriel Afolayan, Matse Uwatse, Igos, Omonor Somolu, Ego etc in many productions including J.P. Clark’s ‘Song of a Goat’, ‘The Wives’ Revolt’, Ola Rotimi’s ‘Our Husband Has Gone Mad Again’, ‘Grip Am’, Man Talk Woman Talk’ and most recently, Zulu Sofola’s ‘The Wizard of Law’ and Wole Soyinka’s ‘The Trials of Brother Jero’ and Adebola Ogunshina’s Konkortion and premiered Akanni and His Proposal, an adaptation of Efua Sutherland’s The Marriage of Anansewa in February, 2014.
