Nigerian League: Sharks FC not giving up on continental ticket

One of the Premier League football clubs in Nigeria, Sharks FC, has stated that they are still hopeful of getting a continental ticket for this season.

After starting the season on a bright note and leading the pack for some weeks, the Blue Angels made a swooping fall to 10th position on the log.

But the team remains optimistic it will finish at the top four. Sharks FC says it has its eyes on winning their last three games of the 2013/14 league Season.

In a chat with PREMIUM TIMES on Wednesday, the club’s media officer, Peter Abaje, said the team has not given up on getting a continental ticket insisting that winning their three remaining games even as it sounds difficult is not out-rightly impossible.

“Well, we can make it to the top four, we are still hopeful to grab a continental ticket if we can win our remaining home and away matches, we still have three more matches to play and if we can win away with a doubled effort, I don’t see any reason why we cannot get a ticket,” he said.

As regards the players’ outstanding fees, Mr. Abaje acknowledged that players are yet to be paid. He was, however, quick to state that payment processes has been initiated.

“Yes they are still owing the players their sign-on fees for last year, the management gave two weeks promise which ends yesterday. I believe they will do something today, the players are still training,” he added.

Sharks FC has 52 points in 35 played matches.
