Northern governors say Boko Haram to be stamped out in 3 months

The Northern States Governors Forum (NSGF) on Saturday said all elements of the Boko Haram terrorists group would be stamped out within three months.

Gov. Babangida Aliyu, Chairman of the forum, said this in an address at a joint Northern States Governors/United States investors’ summit held in Abuja.

“Contrary to insinuations that leaders in the region failed to openly condemn the rascality of the terrorists, we have instead worked subtly to see to the end of the insurgents. Read more….

 Presidency orders arrest, deportation of illegal aliens

Worried by the menace of the Boko Haram sect,  President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the arrest and deportation of all illegal aliens in the country.

It was learnt that Jonathan dispatched the order to the management of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS). Read more….

Designate Boko Haram as terrorist organisation; FG, US urge UN 

Nigeria and the U.S. are working on a UN Security Council  resolution to designate Boko Haram a terrorist organisation, diplomats at the foreign ministry in Abuja have confirmed.

According to newsmen,  the sources were quoted as saying that the two countries have agreed that the UN should take a quick action to designate Boko Haram a terror organisation.

A strong indication that the 15-member council would consider the resolution emerged on Friday when the members spoke with one voice in condemning the activities of the group. Read more….

Jonathan congratulates Zuma on resounding victory

President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday congratulated President Jacob Zuma and his party, the African National Congress (ANC) on their resounding victory in the South African general elections.

A statement by the Presidential Spokesperson, Dr Reuben Abati, stated in Abuja.

It said that Jonathan welcomed the ANC’s victory with over 60 per cent of the votes cast in the election to the South African Parliament and provincial legislatures. Read more….

Atiku urges Nigerians to unite against Boko Haram

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called for unity among all Nigerians in the fight against insurgency in the country.

In a statement released in Abuja on Friday, Atiku said that all citizens must unite to stamp out the evil that bedevilled the country.
