President Jonathan had, in his response to Obasanjo’s letter, confirmed that the allegation had been referred to security agencies.
It was learnt that the State Security Services (SSS) would carry out the bulk of the investigations, as the Service would soon extend invitation to Obasanjo.
The source further added that Obasanjo would be treated like any other Nigerian in the investigation.
The allegations made by former President, Olusegun Obasanjo in his letter to President Goodluck Jonathan have raised serious concerns.
“I can assure you that respected leaders have been so interrogated and handled appropriately,” another source added.
“There is nothing that says a VIP cannot be interrogated. What the law says is that every citizen must operate within the norms of the society.
It was confirmed in Abuja, on Monday, that the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) was coordinating the investigation, which would involve direct interaction with Obasanjo.

“The investigation will involve direct interactions with the former president, who will have to substantiate the information he made to the public,” a source said.
“One of the agencies handling the investigation has been mandated to go to the required length and interact with all necessary parties.
This is said to have led to a decision by the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) to investigate Chief Obasanjo’s statement concerning snipers being trained on the president’s orders.
The former president accused President Jonathan of preparing snipers to be unleashed against his political opponents at his instance.
