Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo, on Wednesday in Benin donated N1 million to the supporters club of Bendel Insurance FC.
NAN reports that the State Commissioner for Sports, Chris Okaeben, made the donation on behalf of the governor.

The governor appealed to lovers of the club and other stakeholders to remain committed in their support to the team.
“I must confess that whereas so many had given up on the club in past, your (supporters club) faith in the club remained unwavering.
“While we remain committed to the welfare of the players and officials of the club, we will also be doing our best to ensure the supporters club does not relent on their commitment toward the club.
“We remain resolute to ensuring the club secures promotion to the elite division come next season and we are counting on your support as well as other lovers of the club,” he said.
The Chairman of the Supporters Club, Chief Osadolor Ogiefa, commended the governor for the donation.
He promised that the club would contribute its quota toward ensuring promotion of the team to the premier league.
“I must express my surprise for this cash donation. I have been a member of the Insurance FC Supporters Club for over 32 years and never have we received this kind of support from the government,” he said.
