Osun Assembly summons Judge on petition against Aregbesola

The Osun State House of Assembly has summonsed Justice Olamide Oleyede to defend her petition to the House alleging that the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola, and his deputy, Titilaoye Tomori, were involved in impropriety.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Goke Butika, said Ms. Oloyede had been summoned by the investigative panel set up by the Speaker, Najeem Salaam, to prove her allegations against the governor.

Ms. Oloyede, who is a serving judge in the Osun State Judiciary, had alleged that the governor and his deputy had mismanaged the state’s economy, calling on the Assembly to investigate the matter.

She also urged the House to follow up their probe with the impeachment of the governor for several breaches committed by him.

Mr. Butika said the petitioner is expected to appear before the panel on Tuesday at the Assembly Complex in Osogbo.

He said the summon was contained in a letter signed by the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Akintunde Adegboye, who doubles as the Chairman of the investigative panel.

The letter as quoted by Mr. Butika, states, “You are to appear before the panel constituted by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Najeem Salaam saddled with the responsibility to investigate the allegations raised in your petition, and you are enjoined to appear with your evidences to substantiate the allegations.”

According to Mr. Butika, no protest would be tolerated within the Assembly premises on the matter pending investigations.

“No trouble maker would be allowed to disrupt the peace of the state,” he added.
