#EkitiDecides result will be announced in Ado-Ekiti – PM News

The result of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti will be announced in Ado-Ekiti and not Abuja, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Halilu Pai, said.

Pai told a news conference in Ado-Ekiti on Friday that the clarification became necessary because of the rumour making the rounds that the result would be announced in Abuja.

He said the results of votes cast would be collated by INEC officials at ward and local government levels and that the final result would be announced in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital. Read more…

Emir Sanusi turbans new Wazirin Kano – Vanguard News

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Friday turbaned Malam Sa’ad Shehu Gidado as the new Waziri of Kano.

Gidado replaced Sheik Nasir Muhammad Nasir, whose appointment by the late emir, Alhaji Ado Bayero, on June 6, was rejected by the State Government.

Speaking at the ceremony in Kano, the emir charged the new Waziri to work diligently for the progress of Kano Emirate. Read more…

Presidential committee on Chibok schoolgirls says 219 girls still missing – Sahara Reporters

The Chairperson of the Presidential Fact Finding Committee on the abducted Chibok girls, Ibrahim Sabo, has revealed that a total of 219 girls are still missing.

Mr. Sabo, a retired brigadier general, disclosed this at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, while presenting the report of the committee to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Mr. Sabo, who disclosed that a total of 276 girls were abducted by members of the Boko Haram Sect, said 57 of the girls escaped while 219 were still unaccounted for.

President Jonathan had set up the fact finding committee on May 2 to gather information surrounding the abduction and to ascertain the exact number of students abducted amongst other terms of references. Read more….

Arisekola buried in Ibadan amid tears – Premium Times

The remains of the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Abdul-Azeez Arisekola, were buried in his home in Ibadan, Oyo State on Friday amid tears by family members, friends and associates.

Mr. Arisekola died in a London Hospital on Wednesday.

The corpse was brought to Adamasingba Stadium at exactly 10.05 a.m. in ebony casket for prayer. Read more….

Customs handover smuggler of military uniforms, boots – PM News

The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) says the suspect who was caught attempting to smuggle military camouflage and boots among other goods into country has now been handed over to the Directorate of Military Intelligence (DMI).

The Custom Area Controller, Port and Terminal MultiService Limited Command, Folorunsho Adegoke, made this known to journalists on Friday in Lagos.

Adegoke said the NCS handed over the suspect to the DMI when the State Security Service (SSS), which had earlier taken custody the suspect on Wednesday, returned him to the command. Read more….
