Rivers state police said they have found the car of abducted former NBA President Okey Wali by the waterfront. The abductors, they said are yet to make contact with his family on the whereabouts of their bread winner since Saturday night when he was abducted.

However, the spokesman for Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Port Harcourt, branch, Angus Chukwuma, described the abduction of its immediate past president as sad. Wali was abducted on Saturday 11 October at about 9:00 p.m. by unknown persons.

He called on the state government and security agencies to ensure that abductors release him unconditionally and immediately.

However, Ahmad Mohammad the Police Public Relations officer PPRO in his reaction said that the Police is on the trail of the kidnappers and Wali’s car was found by the Ozuoba waterfront in Port Harcourt.

He called for vital information from members of the public that would lead to the rescue of Wali.

Ozuoba waterfront is one of the over 44 waterfronts surrounding the state capital, which acts as escape routes for criminals who carry out their nefarious operations in the state.

It is noteworthy that attempts by Governor Chibuike Amaechi to demolish waterfronts surrounding the state capital was vehemently resisted by resident of the areas.

The police and security agencies are working on the information that the former NBA chairman may have been ferried with speed boats to the abductors’ hide outs in the creeks.

Wali is of Ikwerre ethnic nationality like Amaechi and Nyesom Wike, the Minister of State for Education. He is however not an obvious sympathiser of any of the two prominent political parties in state.

Mr Wali, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was NBA president from 2012 to July 2014.
