After taking a look at all the unrealistic targets that have been spouted before regarding #NEPA, power blazer Chinedu Nebo has decided to stop listening to his pastor…
The men-in-black, have a huge job. Sadly, the odds are not in their favour in any bit. Consider that the UN recommends 1 policeman for every 400 citizens. When this err, geographical expression returned to civilian rule, we had 1 for every 820. To fix this, Oko Stella ordered a massive recruitment drive. Since that order was given, we’ve added an average of 40,000 new policemen each year. Now, the ratio is 1 policeman to every 425 Nigerians. Looks like progress until you dig deeper and find that 150,000 of our policemen are used to guard VIPs. This immediately reduces the ratio to 1 policemen to every 668 Nigerians. Still progress? As always happens in Nigeria sadly, our government tends to solve policing issues by deploying the army. So, to counter this shortfall in policing for Nigerians, soldiers were deployed to, guard politicians. I don’t know, if it is because of #BokoHaram, but someone, somewhere, has decided to end that, which, is a decision that can only be praised.
This, err, change of guards is not the only breath of fresh air decision that is circulating this morning. After taking a look at all the unrealistic targets that have been spouted before regarding #NEPA, power blazer Chinedu Nebo has decided to stop listening to his pastor. Inaugurating a committee (yes another one), Prof Nebo indicated that the target for the next six months will be to raise our generating capacity to 6000 MW. On this, I fully agree. Raise the bar incrementally…
Finally, from two stories about genuine fresh air, to one that will stink up your morning breakfast, and it turns out that the NNPC’s annual budget is N3.5 trillion! Let’s put it like this, Nigeria, as a country, has a budget that has only ever exceeded the N5 trillion mark twice in our history. Maybe now we know why. No wonder fine girl is quite adamant that her affairs cannot be looked into. Beauty, as the saying goes, is only skin deep.
Bits and Bobs
The Chibok girls are still missing. Yesterday, a motley crew of protesters wanted to remind the Prez about this little fact. He told them to go to Sambisa and speak with #BokoHaram. Well, he couldn’t be bothered to meet these citizens, it was his representative that did the talking…
Two court judgements later, and Road Safety will stop forcing people to change their number plates. No word about refunds though…
Psalm 115:6 of the good book talks about people, like Mariam, who have ears but cannot hear. So Basira, Mariam’s co-tenant, decided to remove the useless appendage. In Mushin.
Zubairu Adamu, one of our traditional rulers, was due to take a second wife as a Valentine’s gift. He shuffled off the mortal coil before the ceremony took place. A vial of poison, in Hajiya’s sanitary pad, opens us to a tale of love and betrayal.

Muslims living in Ikonifin, Ola Oluwa Local government Osun State would have been in states of dilemma if an attempt to launch Boko Haram by Pastor Olatoke, using his own church was successful.
The pastor of the Baptist church Ikonifin, who is also the CAN President of Ola Oluwa Local Government, conspired with three members of his church, Emmanuel Atanda, Pitter Oyedepo and Ogunniyi Babatope to dress like a Muslim and use turban to cover their faces. When it was around 11-12pm on Sunday (18/05/2014) during the church services, these three men stormed the church premises and started throwing firearm (banga) to scare the people of the church away. On seeing this, the worshippers took to their heels, running helter-skelter to save their lives during which many were injured. But it was unfortunate for those men as they were arrested when they were trying to escape with their motorcycle by the youths of the community. It was during their severe torture before the arrival of the police they now revealed that they are members of Baptist Church Ikonifin and it was a planned work with their pastor.
When the pastor was consulted he said it was just a drama (can you imagine?).
The Christian Association is now doing all her possible best to bury the case when it didn’t work as it was planned and none of Nigerian media or papers reported this. Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, the Founder and National President of Jama’at Ta’awunil Muslimeen has called on the state government to bring the perpetrators of such malicious crime to book.
“To bury such a case, is a crime against Muslims because if the plan was successful, Muslims would have been in danger. It’s unjust until the perpetrators are brought to book; and CAN should be warned, any conspiracy against Muslims or attempt to destabilize the State of Osun will be their end In- Shal- Allah ” he warned.
Professor O.O Ladipo also called on the State government to arrest the pastor who intended to launch Boko Haram in the State of Osun with the aim of putting Muslims in danger.
