The Ooni-elect, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has been forbidden from entering Ife until Wednesday following the non-conclusion of necessary rituals by the relevant shrines.
PREMIUM TIMES had reported that the 40-year-old businessman was due in Ife on Tuesday after he was named as the new monarch for the ancient land by the Osun State Government early on Monday.
It was, however, gathered that Mr. Ogunwusi had since left his Lagos abode to Ibadan where he is conferring with highly placed traditional rulers and Chiefs.
A member of the Giesi confirmed to PREMIUM TIMES on Tuesday that the kingmakers had cancelled his arrival because certain rites were yet to be performed.
“He will not be allowed to come in today,” a source said.
“They have insisted that unless they finish carrying some rituals, the Kabiyesi will not be able to enter the town.
“So we will have to wait until the finish and that will be tomorrow.”
The coronation ritual will begin as soon as the Ooni-elect steps into the town.
