Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has reiterated that his administration’s ban on public procession of any kind is still in force the state.
Therefore, no group by whatever name is permitted to embark on public procession in the state under any guise.
The warning is coming on the heels of several pro-Biafra protests in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
A statement by Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, noted that the Governor has directed security agencies to ensure that no group by whatever name embarks on any procession in the state.
He also directed the security agencies to take appropriate measures to ensure that all law-abiding citizens carry out their lawful businesses without molestation.
In a veiled reference to hundreds of pro-Biafra agitators who usually storm the state from Aba in Abia State during protests, the governor also directed the security agencies to stop any group from outside the state from coming to the state to embark on processions.
He called on the people of the state to cooperate with the security agencies in the maintenance of law and order.
